Sustainable fashion project and exhibition (2022-24)

Inspired by the use of reduced-scale mannequins by couturiers like Madeleine Vionnet and Christian Dior to save fabric, I designed and made 30 quarter-scale mannequins for the Fashioning Our World project from waste materials. The mannequins gave us an opportunity to engage fashion designers and sustainable fashion experts like Rahemur Rahman, Orsola de Castro, and Zandra Rhodes in the project. They also formed the basis for an outreach and engagement project with MA Costume Design students from Arts University Bournemouth responding to themes of reuse, repair, and sustainable making through using up fabric scraps.

As part of the co-curation of the final exhibition with a group of local young people, I provided research and design expertise for the feedback wall, creating an interactive art piece highlighting textile waste with each of 315 pegs representing one of the garments sent to landfill every 17 seconds.
